HEMA wanted to strengthen its leadership foundation.
Leadership development had been left untouched for some time, and many managers were looking for practical tools. A key requirement from the executive team was that the leadership program should be designed for all leaders across the organisation. HEMA chose NONONS because our no-nonsense approach aligns seamlessly with HEMA’s values and culture.
The training programme was fully tailored to the HEMA leadership profile and built on previous development initiatives. For each leadership level, we created a customised training journey.
We started with the Executive Board and the layer of management directly beneath it, delivering a five-day leadership programme. They shared their reflections and personal insights with the wider organisation, both during the leadership days and through 1-on-1 conversations with their teams.
Next, all head office managers were trained through an adapted version of the programme. The training received exceptionally high feedback, especially because of its hands-on, straightforward approach and the fact that everything learned could be immediately applied in practice.
A year later, all store managers were trained. For this group, we further tailored the programme, placing more emphasis on conversations that take place on the shop floor. Leaders from distribution centres and bakeries were also included.
Finally, NONONS trained a group of internal HEMA trainers, enabling them to embed the NONONS philosophy themselves. This ensures long-term continuity through additional programmes, refreshers, and follow-up training days.
